OTTER-Ray – 2025

REEFSCAPE presented by Haas is the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game, where alliances score PVC coral and algae. Key objectives include scoring on a central Reef structure, processing algae for bonus points, and climbing a “Barge” in the final 30 seconds. The game features a 15-second autonomous period and 2m 15s of teleop, with an emphasis on Coopertition.

OTTER’s 2025 Robot was called OTTER-Ray, which boasted a Swerve drive base, a two-stage elevator, fully automated targeting, and a specialized mechanism with a dual purpose. The ‘Corgae’ functioned as both a way to intake and output both game pieces with a single mechanism. Opposite the Corgae, OTTER-Ray’s climbing mechanism allowed OTTER to quickly hang from the deep cage during the end game.

OTTERmus Prime – 2024

Crescendo, the 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition, focuses on a music-themed challenge where alliances of three robots score foam rings (“Notes”) into speakers and amps. The 2-minute and 30-second match features a 15-second autonomous period followed by 2 minutes and 15 seconds of driver-controlled play. Key tasks include amplifying the speaker, climbing on stage chains, and, in the final 20 seconds, navigating the stage for extra points.

OTTER’s 2024 Robot was called OTTERmus Prime. OTTERmus Prime was designed to optimize scoring from two set distances to allow us maximum consistency with scoring. Using pneumatics to achieve our set shooting positions as well as locking our climb to make sure we are able to stay up after the match ends. Our unique side shooter allowed us to use the same shooting mechanism along with a hood to score in the amp at lightning fast speeds..
